- A $500 donation to Chances for Children AZ will provide a child between the ages 4 and 14 an opportunity to participate in the PHAT Kids Camp Program (All money must be collected prior to the beginning of each camp)-Scholarships available
- Each camp will consist of 8-15 children (if a minimum of 8 kids are not enrolled one week prior to camp, camp may be postponed)
- Each camp is 8 weeks in length (camps occur quarterly per year)
- Each camp will be held after school for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes each day (start time is ususally 5pm M-F)
- One camp will be ages 4-8 and the other camp will be ages 9-14
- Camp locations vary due to planned activites (rides and carpools can be arranged)- Primary location will be the Village Health Club and Spa at DC Ranch
- Parents will have the opportunity to workout without a membership at the Village Health Club and Spa at DC Ranch while their children are attending PHAT Kids Camp
- Each kid will be required to have a medical release and liability waiver filled out prior to the first day of camp
- Kids will be required to attend 3 out of 5 of the days offered each week
- Each kid will be assisted in setting realistic goals in the PHAT Kid Camp Program (mostly sport related goals such as making a team or improving athletic skills)
- Each kid will have the opportunity to choose a sport that will be taught in the camp possibly by a pro athlete in that sport
- Each kid will be required to keep a journal of food and activities throughout the camp
- Kids will be tested in the beginning and end of each camp in muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, cardiorespiratory endurance, speed and agility, body composition, girth measurements, self-esteem, and basic health knowledge
- Awards and recognitions will be given out to each kid for outstanding performances in each of the areas tested
- Kids will learn the fundamentals of health, fitness, and nutrition.
- Kids will learn the basics of using a health club such as group exercise programs, health club activites, and weight training programs designed specifically for children
